Training Book Reviews
Have you ever felt lost when reviewing the enormous selection of dog training books on the market, or purchased a dog training/behavior problem book claiming to solve all the woes known to dog-kind, just to find that the only real advice the author had to offer was “contact a professional dog trainer?”
This site is out to change that! I don’t sell dog training books, but on this site I’ve listed the “best of the best;” the training and behavior problem solving books that I recommend to my clients and turn to myself when I’m stumped by a difficult dog. You’ll even find books to help you on your way to becoming a professional trainer! I’ve placed a description by each title, and several books have a review with more information available.
I’ve separated the books into several categories: Obedience and Puppy Training Books, Books on Behavior Problems, Books for Professional Trainers, and Police and Protection Training Books. Just click on the links to your left to access them.
There is also a page called “All Reviews” which lists ALL the dog training book reviews I have on this site. Some of those reviews may be of training books that didn’t quite make it onto the “Best of the Best” listing, but you might find it useful to read the review none the less. I have not yet written a review of every dog training book listed on the site, however.
Would you like to have your dog training/behavior problem solving book or video listed?Submit a copy for review!

Hi Jessi,
We just had a new member to our family, a German Sherperd Puppy (7 weeks old/female). I have choosen the “Perfect Puppy” and the “How dogs learn” (for later one) as my “training” books. Do you agree with the chooice regarding the breed of my puppy?
Thanks
Nuno
