Alternate training methods
I frequently use alternate training techniques for a variety of reasons. I use many alternate methods and often customize them as needed. Some of the reasons to use an alternate method are:
- The primary method uses food as a reward, but the dog isn?t motivated by food, is on a special diet, or has an owner who refuses to use food in training
- The dog?s owner is physically unable to use the primary method
- The primary method is not working
- The dog?s owner doesn?t understand or want to use the primary method
I?ve listed some alternate techniques on this site. Please keep in mind that some of these techniques are not motivational, and in some cases may not be as humane as the primary method. I suggest you use the alternate methods only if necessary.
